THE MISSION

This fund was creasted to provide scholarships to students in Massac County thru the Massac County Academic Awards Ceremony.

Massac County Academic Scholarship Fund

Every year since 1986 deserving seniors from Joppa High School and Massac County High School have been recognized for their hard work and academic accomplishments. With the collective support of many businesses, organizations, churches, professionals and private donors, over $426,000 has been awarded to 448 students.

This scholarship fund was originally established by the Kiwanis Club of Metropolis, IL. In 2012 the Metropolis Rotary joined the effort which has increased the amount of money that can be awarded. In 2019, $28,400 was awarded to the top 16 applicants in amounts ranging from $1,300 to $2,300.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Graduating senior from any high school in Massac County, continuing education at an accredited junior college, technical institute or university.

 

Scholarship Requirements

  • Participation in one of the Academic teams
    (i.e. Math Team, Spanish Team, etc)

  • Academic Achievement & Academic Potential

  • Listing of

    • Academic Awards/Honors

    • Extra-Curricular Activities

    • Clubs/Societies/Organizations

  • Describe community involvement, services performed and civic participation
