This scholarship was created in memory of Tom Mygatt to assist graduates of Sesser-Valier High School as they pursue a college educaion.
Tom Mygatt Memorial Scholarship Fund
Tom Mygatt, his wife Janet and all four of their children, Thomas, Carrie, Courtney and Cinnamon, graduated from Sesser-Valier High School. Tom and Janet attended SIU Carbondale, but did not graduate as they went to work to support their growing family. Tom and Janet’s dream was to ensure that all of their children obtained a college education and all four of the children obtained that college education by graduating from SIU Carbondale.
Tom believed in the value of education and the power it has to help increase knowledge, expand your horizons by educating about the world outside of your current universe, and provide opportunities to fulfill your dreams. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist someone who wants to have those opportunities.
Eligibility:

Graduate of Sesser-Valier High School

2 page essay, double spaced, font size 12 on “how you will achieve your career goals.” Please attach a copy of the essay to this application

Grade Point Average: 3.00 and above

Academic Awards/Honors: Please list all awards/honors for the time you were in high school

Extra-Curricular Activities: Please list all extracurricular activities – please include all years in high school

Clubs, Societies, Organizations: Please list all you belong to currently or during your time in high school

Community Service Oriented: Please describe your community involvement, services performed and civic participation
